Updated: Mar 1, 2022

February 23, 2022 - 20 colleagues from the S&T Diplomatic Circle Shanghai joined the visit to Huawei -- an independent, privately-held company that was founded in 1987 in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, and has since grown to become the world’s largest supplier of telecommunications equipment, as well as the second-largest manufacturer of smartphones.

Today, Huawei employs 197,000 people in more than 170 countries, and serves three main types of customers globally:

  • Telecom operators that provide Internet, broadband, wireless, plus fixed and mobile phone services;

  • Enterprises, organizations, institutions, governments, public utilities, as well as a wide variety of industries, such as finance, energy, transportation and manufacturing;

  • Consumers, who buy smartphones, smart watches, laptop computers and other devices.

Huawei is moreover a market leader in China and many countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa, and ranked 49th on the 2020 Fortune Global 500 list, thanks to revenues totaling CNY 891.4 billion.

Many thanks to our colleague Xavier Assfeld from the Consulate General of France for his great work in coordinating this visit.
